Visiting Australia

 

A Visitor Visa allows you to enter Australia to visit or for business visitor purposes for up to three, six or twelve months. You may be able to obtain a Visitor Visa if you are entering Australia to visit family, tourism, or for business visitor activities.

 

Passport holders of selected countries are also eligible for the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA).

 

 

 

Studying in Australia

 

Students who wish to study in Australia may apply for a student visa.

 

From an English course to PhD level of study, international students will need to apply for a Student Visa and will be assessed according to the relevant assessment level. Students are generally assessed based on their country of citizenship.

 

 

 

Working in Australia

 

If you are a skilled worker, you may be able to enter Australia to work in your nominated occupation for your approved sponsor.

 

The Subclass 482 visa is a 4-year work visa and upon completion of 3 years of full-time work with your Sponsor, you may be eligible to obtain Permanent Residency depending on the occupation.

 

Depending on the individual's circumstances, you may be able to apply for an employer sponsored Permanent Residency (Subclass 186) visa right away.

Bringing Your Family and Partner

​You may be able to Sponsor your parents, children and/or partner to come to Australia if you are an Australian citien, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.

 

A partner includes a spouse, fiance or de facto partner of the eligible Sponsor.

 

There are capping and queuing of certain family visas with processing priority charges.

Australian Citizenship

​

If you are already holding a Permanent Residency visa, a New Zealand citizen residing in Australia, child born overseas to an Australian or adopted overseas, or a child of a former Australian citizen, you may be eligible to obtain an Australian citizenship.

 

A person who lost or gave up Australian citizenship may also apply for this.

Refugee and Humanitarian

If you are subject to persecution in your home country, you may be eligible for visas that allow you and your family to live, work and study indefinitely in Australia.
